Something you may or may not know about Anger...
Anger’s Dirty Dozen
1. When angry, you misfocus. You equate a person with his actions. You then feel hostile towards the total person, not just his behaviour.
2. Since this person will want to protect his imaginary self-worth, he may respond defensively, rather than helpfully.
3. Anger can affect your behaviour towards innocent people. You may yell at the kids, snap at your spouse, and argue with your neighbour.
4. They, in turn, will act hostile towards you.
5. As more people dislike and shun you, you’ll probably dump on yourself, an action that will only add to your emotional turmoil.
6. Depression and anxiety usually follow close on the heels of anger. As a result, you may foul up other areas of your life.
7. Anger has a way of lingering long after the original problem has cleared up.
8. When you’re angry, you become blind to the weaknesses of your own position. This tunnel vision handicaps your learning and growth.
9. Once you’re angry, you tend to focus on real or imagined revenge, rather than focusing on your problem.
10. When angry, you tend to deny you’re emotionally disturbed. This keeps you from processing your nutty thinking.
11. Anger can cause serious physical illness.
12. If you have a habit of breaking things when angry, it can be tough on the budget.
