Subject: Straggler test

I am recovering a lot from my severe bipolar disorder relapses since I started on quetiapine a month ago. Now, I am on a 400 mg dose now to reach its maximum efficacy. I went back to university to pursue my 2nd year studies part time. I also have 4 tuition students during daytime.

I was invited by a research drug company to do a straggler trial test on a Glucagon Receptor Antagonist test. It requires me of daily dosing of the test medication for a duration of 28 days and performing self glucose test.

It pays well after completion of the experiment. But will it affect my bio chemical balance even though the experiment is on diabetes? As I have came a long way to recovery to now, would it be risky that it will affect my mental health with injections in this experiment?

Answer from DepNet

I think you need to clarify with the research company if you can be enrolled into the study if you are already on medication.

Also without knowing more details about the protocol of the study it would be difficult for me to comment on the risk to you. It would be prudent to discuss this with your treating psychiatrist.

Take care
