Thoughts of suicide
Here at DepNet, you can among other things read about your symptoms when you are depressed.
There are many people who are ready to help you. That includes us at DepNet. The aim of writing about depression is to help you understand that it is an illness and you can recover from it, so there are no reason for it to destroy your life.
Unfortunately, it is not unusual for people to think about taking their own life. But let these thoughts lead you to someone who can help you. We urge you to do this:
Seek help!
If you are suffering from depression and having suicidal thoughts, you should seek professional help:

- Talk to your psychiatrist
- Go to the emergency department

If you are thinking a lot about suicide, an option for you is to be admitted to a psychiatric ward. In a psychiatric ward, there are trained healthcare professional that will be able to care and look after you. Importantly, you will also receive the appropriate treatment.
When the depression eases, everything will appear different. Your thoughts of committing suicide will disappear completely, and you will be surprised at how you could ever have had such thoughts. If you have any thoughts of suicide again, we advise you to talk to your doctor or psychiatrist about it as soon as possible.
