Subject: IV steriod treatment!

The question was submitted 25 March 2009

hi,
i'm discharged at a hospital last week after my 5 day IV Steriod treatment. Was injected in total of 5 grams of methylprednisolone while warded at the hospital.

How long will it take for this Iv steriod treatment to work? i read it's about 2 weeks or more and my neurologist didn't say how long, but i'll see him in april as outpatient.

I wasn't given any oral steriods to take after discharge.

My principal diagnose is still hashimoto's encephalopathy.

however, my numbness, don't know who and where am i, burning sensations and head slanting to my right automatically and suddenly and stroke like deteriotation symptoms popped out when i'm warded last week.

i know this kind of treatment takes a long time to treat.
i'm still taking my faverin and thyroxine currently.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your discomfort you experienced during your ward stay last week. I hope you have found some relief from your symptoms after the steroid injection. Normally & generally speaking, it can take anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks after your trreatment to see any noticeable changes to your condition.

It is best to consult your neurologist in charge during your outpatient this month to clarify your doubts & concerns. Your doctor should be in the best position.

Take care and we wish you a speedy relief from your discomfort soon.

Regards,
