May I know what's the relapse rate for bipolar 2 or bipolar NOS? When do relapses occur should the individual stop medication?
Thanks.
Relapse rates are really dependent on many factors including genetics, previous history of relapse and environmental factors. It would be prudent to discuss the risk of relapse with your treating psychiatrist who would be familiar with your individual circumstances.
Medicines should never be stoped on your own accord. Generally if a patient is not ready to be taken off medications yet, the risk of relapse goes up considerably when medication is discontinued. The time of relapse is very individual, some patients may relpase days after stopping medication abruptly but in others relapse may occur more than a year later.
